Aspect has Entered the Release Candidate Stage!
And, by the way, if you'd like to see a feature that is not included yet, don't worry. We'll continue to add new functionality at the usual pace after the first stable release. Also, please don't hesitate to reach out directly or to write a feature request in the forum, as we always try to prioritize these as far as possible.
In case you have missed what has been happening since the first public beta, have a look at the highlights below!
New Features Since the First Preview
Synchronization
A library can now be shared between any number of devices and changes will be synchronized between them automatically. No cloud is involved in this!
Android and iOS Apps
In order to get the photos from your phone into your Aspect library wirelessly, there are now two apps for iOS and Android available.
Experimental Server Version
The server version can be installed on a computer or on a supported NAS to serve libraries within the network and/or provide a redundant storage.
Apple Photos Import
Photos can now also be imported from the Apple Photos library, in addition to importing from a particular folder.
Full Color Management
Literally everything you can see in the user interface is properly color managed, of course including the displayed images.
Photo Export and Export Collections
Photos can be exported with specific size, format an metadata settings. Export collections allow to fully automate the export process.
Scanned Folders
One of the most important additions are scanned folders. These enable adding photos to a library and creating events without having to move them into the library folder, so it's easy to get started step-by-step.
Aperture Library Import
Although this is not officially part of Aspect, we have published the first add-on, which allows importing an Aperture library, including the library structure. This is currently limited to images that are stored in the Aperture library, but will be extended later-on.
Keyword Editor
The new keyword editor makes it extremely convenient to work with multiple images at once and also fully supports hierarchical keywords.
Date/Time Adjustments
A new date/time adjustment dialog allows to correct the time stamps of photos in various ways, enabling quick corrections of wrong camera clock settings, or setting a capture time for scanned photos.
Collection Metadata Templates
Assigning metadata to photos can be automated by assigning metadata templates to collections.
Navigator and Loupe
Quickly navigating with in a zoomed image or inspecting details without having to zoom in is now possible when in details view, using the new navigator/loupe panel.
Fullscreen View
No distracting UI elements and a simple slide-show mode make the new fullscreen view perfect for viewing or showing photos.
Duplicate Finder
A powerful duplicate detector will find and conveniently group all duplicates within a library, enabling a super quick cleanup process.
Substantial Performance and Stability Improvements
Throughout the last year, we have worked hard at making the app faster and more reponsive, as well as making the app a lot more stable.
Multi-Monitor Support
A secondary window can be activated to make use of a second display, for example to always have a details view for the current selection available.
Spanish Language Support
The latest version of Aspect, as well as the website, now includes a Spanish translation.
