Focused Improvements & Stability · Release Candidate 24
This update for Aspect focuses on refining existing functionality and enhancing overall stability. We’re committed
to providing a reliable experience, and this release addresses several key areas based on user feedback and
internal testing.
Organization & Synchronization
- Folder Hierarchy Retention: When moving files into the “remotely-deleted” folder, the original folder structure is now preserved. This allows to manually restore the original folder structure and results in a less crowded folder.
- Thumbnail Generation: Missing cached thumbnails and preview images are now generated as part of the image analysis process.
- Improved Sync Interactions: Changes have been made to improve how Aspect handles library instance synchronization when other devices are still loading.
- Revision Handling: We've improved the robustness of revision saving and loading to prevent corrupted revision histories after application or system crashes.
Bug Fixes & Performance
- macOS Power Management: A bug preventing macOS from entering energy-saving mode while Aspect is running has been resolved.
- Olympus RAW Date Handling: A problem with Olympus RAW files incorrectly interpreting "unset" date/time fields has been corrected.
- Synchronization Hangs: A potential hang during the “metadata” phase of synchronization has been fixed.
- Bogus Export Errors: The application will no longer report false errors for export collections when events or photos are not present in the active library instance.
- Persistent Export Directory Recomputation: A bug that caused export collections to continuously recompute when synchronizing across multiple devices has been addressed.
- Library Clone Performance: A problem with slow library cloning due to premature file fetching has been fixed, leading to improved cloning speeds.
- Library Configuration Display: An error affecting the date range displayed in the library instance configuration dialog has been resolved.
- Missing File Removal: A previously existing issue preventing the removal of certain missing files from the library has been corrected.
- Revision Errors: A potential "missing HEAD revision" error that could occur after a synchronization interruption has been resolved.
