External Editor Improvements and Stability · Release Candidate 30
Performance Improvements
We're addressing a specific area of import speed. Users of Fujifilm cameras, particularly when importing directly from SD card or utilizing Aspect Sync, may notice a significant improvement in metadata read speeds for certain JPEG files. This optimization aims to reduce import times and make the initial organization process faster.
Editor Integration
We’re expanding Aspect’s auto-detected external editor list. Capture One, Lightroom Classic, and Photomator are now recognized and integrated, enhancing workflow flexibility. For those using Capture One, "CaptureOne" folders now also automatically collapse in the "Select Folders As Events" pane, simplifying event organization.
Bug Fixes & Stability
This update also incorporates several important bug fixes aimed at improving overall stability and addressing known issues. Key fixes include:
- Aspect Sync (Android): Resolved a potential issue where partial files could be imported from Aspect Sync for Android if transfer errors occurred.

- Thumbnails after Import: Fixed an issue causing newly imported images to initially display as black thumbnails.
- Import Reliability: Rectified a problem where not all photos within a folder were consistently imported.
- File Management: A potential crash when moving files to the trash from the file browser has been addressed.
- Library Loading & Thumbnails: Fixed a crash that could occur while unloading the library while thumbnails were still loading.
- Search Functionality: Resolved a crash that occurred when entering a four-digit year into the search bar.
- Shortcut Persistence: Addressed an issue where cleared default keyboard shortcuts were not persisting across program restarts.
