Stability and Performance #1 · Aspect Preview 34
On the performance side, the overall responsiveness of the application has improved, showing less stutters or delays while work is being performed in the background. Reading metadata of RAW files is now also considerably faster, and at the same time, we also extract the embedded thumbnail image. This means that the scanning process, as it already did for JPEGs, also shows small preview images for RAWs.
Related to RAW images as well, a severe memory leak has been fixed, which could result in excessive memory use while scanning or analyzing RAW images.
Quality of Life Improvements
Most notably, the file and directory chooser dialogs on Linux have received a makeover and now have properly spaced controls, as well as a new bar that allows to quickly access common folders and mounted volumes.
Apart from that, there is a bunch of small improvements, such as page up/down and home/end key based thumbnail navigation, better selection handling when importing files using the file system browser, allowing to drag non-image sidecar files into the photo stream.
