Editions

Aspect is available for desktop PCs/Macs, for server based installations (web frontend) and in the form mobile apps for synchronizing mobile photos.

Desktop

The desktop version is our first official product and is available for Windows, macOS and Linux. The Linux version is still in a partially experimental state and there are a few known issues left, as well as limited distribution formats (only x64 AppImage, as of this writing).

Server

In order to enable setups where you have a central storage for all photos and one or more computers that are able to synchronize with the central storage, there is also a server based version that just has a simple web based UI for managing the contained libraries. This version is still considered experimental due to the lack of functionality, but it uses the same underlying implementation for libraries and synchronization as the desktop application and is fully capable being used as a central hub. Server binaries are available for Linux (x64), Windows (x64) and macOS (x64/arm64 universal).

Mobile

There are apps available for iOS and Android. The iOS app uses a regular Aspect library under the hood and automatically imports the photos from the Apple Photos app, which are then synchronized with other Aspect libraries using the library synchronization mechanism. The UI is currently limited to the necessary functionality, but will be extended over time to allow viewing and organizing photos within the library.

In contrast, the Android version is making the file system available to the Aspect desktop version, which can then be used to set up an automatic import that will continuously fetch new photos as long as the phone is connected to the local WiFi. We plan to publish an additional app for Android that matches the iOS app at a later point in time.
